Burketown, in the Gulf of Carpentaria, is a unique destination.  It presents visitors and tourists with memorable experiences and adventures.  Burketown is famous for barramundi fishing and the Morning Glory cloud. 

Tourists can enjoy Yagurli’s stargazing and sunset river tours, appreciate the vast expanse of the salt pans, and visit the Burketown Bore, the Boiling Down Works of the old Meatworks and the Landsborough Tree. 

Nature enthusiasts can enjoy bird watching, to catch a glimpse of galahs, cuckoos, frogmouths, kookaburras and kingfishers, take part in some croc-spotting on the Nicholson, Gregory and Albert Rivers or wander around Leichhardt Falls.
